Awards
Basic Skills Quality Mark
The Basic Skills Agency offers quality marks for primary and secondary schools. The Primary Quality Mark provides a framework to promote, support and celebrate the improvement of pupils' literacy and maths levels. It consists of 10 elements that focus on involving the whole school community, self-review and target intervention, all of which are central to most schools' improvement agendas.
The mark helps schools self-evaluate and continuously improve the basic skills of all pupils, including underachievers.
Active Mark
Active Mark is awarded to those schools who show a commitment to providing not only two hours of quality PE each week but are working towards ensuring that all children have access to a wider physical activities programme. The aim is five hours of physical activity each week.
Travel Mark
The Travel Mark is awarded to schools that successfully have a Travel Plan in place and continue to explore ways of encouraging sustainable travel practices in their schools. It also includes training about road safety and how to keep safe in the environment around our schools.
Eco Schools - Bronze
Eco-schools is an international award programme that aims to help schools become more sustainable and provides a framework to help embed these principles into school life. The programme complements the government's sustainable schools programme. We have the Bronze Eco Schools Award and are now working towards the Silver Award.
